Summer
- Autumn 2006. Patience is still required for the final stages!
Summer
is here at last and the meadows are full of wild flowers and insects.
Not just
a rich time for the meadows - my vegetable gardens are also doing
very well now.
This must
be one of the most perfect places I have seen for painting reflections!
Seasonal changes and the play of light as the sun moves around
the panorama of mountains, bathing areas in patches of light in
between clouds.
The Summer
Butterflies and Insects are now increasing with the sun.
I was
invited to visit a friend, again, in the Sevenne. From there we
also took a trip over to the coast and Carmargue, famous for its
marshes, wildlife, bulls and horses.
Not far
away is the village of Roussillon - famous for being built upon
layers of coloured ochres. I gathered some samples to use in painting
and ceramics.
Roman
history is constantly abundant and there are many monuments and
gardens to visit. Here, also, a Monastery well known for growing
Lavender.
Nimes
has a very strong Roman history.
Travelling
across so much diverse countryside means that the fauna also changes
greatly.
Back at
the coast, the balmy summer evenings are delighful whether at
the marsh, sea, or town.
I enjoyed
swimming both in salt water and crystal clear mountan streams!
